Nepal Telecom
The Short Message Service (SMS) is the ability to send and receive text messages to and from mobile
telephones. The text can comprise of words or numbers or an alphanumeric combination. SMS was
created as part of the GSM Phase 1 standard. Each short message is up to 160 characters in length
when Latin alphabets are used, and 70 characters in length when non-Latin alphabets such as Arabic
and Chinese are used. When a mobile user sends SMS to other mobile user, the message is at first sent
to SMSC server which then stores and forwards the message to respective destination.
Web-SMS is a new web based service launched by
Nepal Telecom in order to facilitate its valued
customers. Valid Nepal Telecom mobile or internet subscribers can register to this service and send
SMS to Nepal Telecom mobile users. You do not need to own mobile for using this service.
